Vehicle Registration and Drivers Licenses

Within 30 days of establishing residence in Florida, you are required to register all motor vehicles with the State and obtain a Florida license plate.  Be prepared to provide personal identification, title or proof of out of state financing, out of state vehicle registration, proof of personal injury protection and property damage liability insurance.

A Florida driver’s license is required of all motorists within 30 days of becoming a Florida resident, registering a child in a Florida public school or gaining employment in the state.  A Certified Birth Certificate is required to obtain a license along with the proof of a social security number and two address verifications.  Drivers with valid out of state licenses are required to pass only a visual exam, while new drivers must pass the eye test, a rules and regulations test, a road signs test and a driving test.
